Fast friends

Dairy Joy w/EMT

Today was a birthday celebration (I like when my birthday lasts more than one day) at Dairy Joy with Elizabeth and her parents.

Mint brownies

I made mint brownies for my friend's baby shower.  She's expecting twins; a boy and girl -- so I made half with pink frosting and half with blue!

Aunt Camp

I'm sad my niece Emma left today and I'm not just saying that because she made dinner last night.

Throwback Thursday: Nan-Jans

My freshman year at BYU a bunch of M. Smith Hall dorm friends and I were talking about what our moms wore and realized that ALL our moms wore those polyester pants with the seam down the front (available in every color!).  We lovingly re-named these pants "Nan-Jans" after my mom "Nancy" and Karen Hatfield's mom "Janice".  It was a catchy name though if you include all our moms it was "Nan Jan Marge Pat Thelma Mary Beulah" (of course now, years later, I can't even remember all the friends who were involved in this discussion--I do remember Cindy Pierson, Ann Scott and Robin Field being there).  I couldn't find my favorite photo of Nan in her Nan-Jans so this one of her in front of Old Faithful will have to do for today's Throwback Thursday.

Never say never

Someone sent me this duster and I'm wearing it!  Never say never.  Thank you anonymous gift giver!  #carolwrightgifts

Note: my nice cousin Ann sent this to me!

Visiting Teaching

I am a visiting teacher again.  I pulled myself out of the VT pool while I was the RSP since I did a lot of visiting.  It's nice to be back.  I went for a walk with my friend/visiting teachee Cara tonight; these woods are in her back yard.

My presidency

Tonight I hosted a dinner for my wonderful (former) presidency.  We enjoyed pizza (made by Emma), cucumber salad, green salad, watermelon and homemade vanilla ice cream with strawberries on top.  I love these Relief Society ladies and am thankful for all their help and support for almost five years.  It was nice to get together and hang out.  #reliefsociety  #ialwayswearthatstripedshirtinphotos

Nutella

How is it possible that today was the first time I have purchased Nutella?  I've eaten it numerous times; just never bought it.

Downtown Boston

Usually the last place I want to go after work is the city but the girls wanted to hang out so I obliged and we met up in the subway station and wandered around Boston (Charles Street, Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, Newbury Street, Copley Square, Prudential Center, and Commonwealth Ave. to be specific).  It was a beautiful night and the people watching was fun.  The girls enjoyed being in the city.

My first Christmas card in Boston was a picture of me sitting in this same place (wearing a Harvard sweatshirt).

Birthday gift

I don't usually buy myself a birthday gift but I did today.  My awesome home teachers did the install.

Museum of Fine Arts

Tonight we went to the Museum of Fine Arts to see the Quilts and Color exhibit.  I only had 5 quarters which got us one hour of street parking; enough time to see the quilt exhibit, the new wing of the museum (I love the bold colors on the walls), the Impressionist paintings (Adrie loves Van Gogh's work) and the gift shop. It was fun to be in the city and spend time at the museum.  The MFA is free Wednesday nights (it's OK to say "no thank you" when they ask if you want to make a donation).

Throwback birthday

I still remember that day and how sad I was when the wind blew the candles out on the cupcakes over and over.  #myfirstfirstworldproblem

I got to spend some time with Lena today.  She's amazing.  It was great hearing about her life and travels.

Good dad

I often see this father and daughter walking to school when I drive to work.  She is always on his shoulders.  And she is always smiling.
